The original home of the local Coca Cola bottling plant was a complex of seven different buildings dating back to the early 1900’s.  This complex was renovated to house a variety of uses, retail, commercial, office and residential uses.  The building was awarded the Historic Preservation Award from the Georgia Trust in 2003.  Whitsel Construction Services served as general contractor for all work.

 

Foundry Street

Construction Amount:  $2, 260,867

 

The Foundry Street Warehouse was one of several late 1800’s buildings owned by Athens-Clarke County.  In 2003, the Classic Center acquired the largest building to use as additional conference rooms.  The exterior was left intact while the interior was converted to conference spaces.  Portions of the original interior finishes were preserved.  Whitsel Construction Services served as the design-build General Contractor for all work in Phase I.
